In my experience, strangers are awesome. It's the people I know (or thought I knew) who keep surprising me with underlying layers of shit opinions, served up on a "helping" platter. And yeah, the internet (the world, really) is full of weirdos. (To be clear, weirdos are awesome.) Some people might consider me one of them. There might be people who take my photos and words, and do things with them that I never intended. I'm not stupid and I'm not naive. But I refuse to be afraid. I refuse to be quiet, to make myself small and polite and fucking acceptable. Your body is yours, and my body is mine. I am no one's keeper. I'm not telling you what to do with yours. No one gets to tell me what to do with mine. I enjoy making things that I will actually use, and I enjoy sharing my makes in the way I envisioned them.
There is nothing inappropriate about celebrating confidence in my body. Especially since it has taken me 30 years to reach a point where I do feel confident. There is nothing inappropriate about the human body to begin with. A fact that artists have known for decades. If my body on display is offensive, then so is every nude marble statue in the world. What needs adjusted is not my posts, but the overbearing, downright puritanical and utterly confused, views our society has about sex and sensuality.
